Team Update.......

September, 2004

September 3 was the final points race for the year. I ended up doing pretty good in this race. I made it all the way down to the finals against Marcus Taylor. Marcus and I thought it would be fun to dial the same number so we both dialed 9.96. I don't have the ticket so I am not exactly sure what our lights were but I think they were comparable. I was ahead of Marcus all the way down the quarter mile. I made the mistake at the end of getting out of the throttle too soon before the finish line. Marcus came around me for the win. What was crazy was we both ran exactly the same ET and MPH, 10.030 @ 129. That was a fun race. Charles made it to the quarter finals in Street Bike.

September 17-19, Black Sunday....this was a fun race. We were at the track from Friday through Sunday. Friday we had an all day Test and Tune session that was fun. Saturday morning we were given time runs again and then the eliminations started that evening. Charles only entered the Street Bike class while I entered both Street Bike and Pro Bike. We both made it through the first round of eliminations, he in Street and me in both Street and Pro. They ran us late into the evening on Saturday night, I think it was at least midnight before they called the eliminations to resume again Sunday early morning. Sunday seemed to go pretty smoothly, not as many oil downs as we were used to. In Street Bike I ended up going all the way to the semi finals only to have to race Charles. I was taking a nap at the line and Charles got me right off the bat, he deserved the win. He went on to race a guy from Kansas City in the finals and he came out vicotorious. Congratulations to Charles, that was a tough field he made it through. I ended up going out in the third round of Pro Bike. Dusty Kaitich of Collinsville, IL won the ProBike class. He had a huge payday, congratulations to him as well! To all the people that stopped by the trailer this weekend, thanks we enjoyed your company! I have to admit, I haven't taken many pictures lately, sorry, I will try to be a little better at that since the end of the season is fastly approaching us.

Black Sunday Final
Winners Circle - Black Sunday

The race on September 24 was a regular scheduled race and I am sorry to say I didn't do squat, I was really embarassed by my performance, so we won't even talk about it :) Charles lost first round in both Street and Pro. That Sunday the 26, we went out to the Wentzville track, Mid America Raceway (MAR) to try to win their Wally. It ended up that several of the regulars from Gateway had the same idea. There was probably about a field of 17 bikes, the class combined the pro and street bike so the no box and box racers were racing each other. Makes for a tough race but hey we were there to have fun! It ended up that Charles and I and Dusty and Marcus made it to the semi finals. I raced Marcus and Charles raced Dusty, we both lost. We still had a great time. Dusty left with the Wally, he was racing his probike, with the box.

The season is over for regular scheduled races at Gateway, there are a few Test and Tune sessions and a Bracket Bash that the GIR staff assured us there was a class for Bikes, we will go check that out at the end of October. Until then, happy racing and I hope to see you all at the track. Take Care!
