August
Where
should I begin? August has been a very exciting month for
us. The first race in August was Friday August 5, Charles
and Janie both lost first round of Street Bike and in Pro
Bike Janie lost first round and Charles lost second round.
The
second race was Friday August 12, Charles went out early in
Street Bike and Janie made it to the semi final round against
Nelson, who cut the tree down to take the win. In Pro Bike
Janie lost first round and Charles went on to lose second
round.
The
third race was Sunday August 14, Charles and Janie both made
it to the finals to race each other. Charles came out victorious
once again. In Pro Bike Janie and Charles made it through
first round to race each other in second round and Charles
won there too, just wasn't Janie's day.
The
last race in August was the points final. Charles was going
into the race 23 points behind Don Klarer for the Street Bike
Championship. Charles needed the win and Don needed to go
out early in order for Charles to be crowned the points Champion
for the Street Bike class. Well it all played out almost perfectly.
Charles and Janie both were winning rounds and Don went out
in the second round. It came down to Charles and Janie in
the final. Well it happened that with Don going out early,
Charles had already won the Championship so who was it going
to be in the final? Charles dialed a 9.81 and Janie dialed
a 9.63, Charles left first with the handicap but could only
muster an .081 light, Janie left with an .082 light, almost
identical reaction times. It came down to the finish line,
they were both even at the line. Janie's win light came on,
at the ticket booth they saw that they both broke out but
Charles broke out just a hair more than Janie. With the victory,
that moved Janie up to third overall in the Street Bike points
Championship race. Charles and Janie were both extatic over
the night. It couldn't have played out any better. Pro Bike
wasn't quite as exciting for the two who both lost first round.
One note I think is worth mentioning is that Charles rode
5 different bikes throughout the season, that is a feat in
itself to learn each bike. Hope you enjoy the photos!
