Team Update.......

August, 2004

Well, first of all I have to thank everyone who sent me the good luck vibes I requested for the National Dragster Challenge night on July 30. I actually won and got the Wally. I was so excited. I had a ton of luck on my side that night. I entered both Street Bike and Pro Bike. I of course lost first round of Pro Bike. First round of Street Bike I faced a Harley, Jason Lynch's brother. He left first with a 14.20 dial to my 10.05 dial. I got him off the line with a better reaction time .077 to his .153 and I passed him in a hurry and when I looked back close to the finish line, it appeared he was still at the 1/8th mile, needless to say I let off the gas and coasted through the finish line to get the win. Second round I faced Nelson Taylor, we were pretty close on our dials, he dialed a 10.26 to my 10.01. Neither of our lights were spectacular but he took the advantage over me with a .111 reaction time to my .139. I stayed in the throttle the whole pass thinking I would catch him at the line, well I didn't catch him but my win light came on. Crazy double break out but his was worse so guess what I go on to third round. Third round I faced Craig Trunk, he dialed a 10.75 to my 9.95 dial. He left first with a better reaction time .076 reaction time to my sleepy .165. I just knew I lost that one on the reaction time, I hadn't caught him by the 1000 foot mark and it didn't appear that I was going to make it to the finish line first. I didn't but my win light comes on again, crazy I tell you. Craig broke out, he ran a 10.71 and I ran right on with a 9.95. Final round here I come.
I had to race Jon Sykes. Let me tell you, this was a good race. Jon and I are no strangers at the line, we have had to race first or second round every Friday since the season started, well maybe I am exagerating but it seems that way. Anyway, Jon dialed a 11.25 to my 9.95. He left the line with a .089 reaction time and that's where my advantage came in I managed to get a .067 light which gave me the advantage at the finish line. I caught Jon probably about 100 feet before the finish line, just enough time for me to get slightly past him and drop my throttle. I actually made it to the finish line first this time. My win line came on and I was shocked, I couldn't believe I won. I ended up running a 9.99 and Jon ran 11.31. Margin of victory was a .051. Charles didn't fair as well, he lost first round and didn't enter ProBike so his night was over early.

Upside down plaque :)

August 6 and 13th weren't very memorable so all I have to say is that I probably went out first or second round and I am sure Charles made it a few rounds each night. Sorry, the Wally has clouded my memory ;)

The weekend of August 21-22 was a great weekend for Charles. We went and participated in the NHRA Sport Compat race. They had two bike classes, Street Bike and Pro Bike. We entered both classes. The turnout was really good for both bike classes. The cars were a different story, but we didn't mind. I lost first round of Street Bike and second round of Pro Bike. It just wasn't my day. Charles raced Don Klarer in first round of Street Bike. Charles put him on the trailer and went on to race a guy on a GSXR1000, not sure of his name, Charles won that round. Third round we can't remember who he raced, he won though :) In the final he faced Dusty Katich. This was a very close race. Charles dialed 9.57 and Dusty dialed 10.66. Dusty left first due to the handicap with a .107 reaction time. Charles killed him on the light with a .079 reaction time which gave Charles the advantage he needed at the finish line. Charles reached the finish line first and his win light came on. Dusty ended up running right on his dial with a 10.662, Charles ran a 10.59. The margin of vicory was .0018. Close race! Guess what....he won a wally too. Charles made it to third round in Pro Bike.
